Harm to Infant

Medical negligence is defined as an act of omission by a health care practitioner that is a deviation from the standards of patient care. Medical negligence is present when there is harm done to the client. The worst of which can be death. One case of medical negligence was the case of a 1 year old infant who was admitted to the hospital due to diarrhoea with signs of dehydration. That particular hospital is a teaching hospital where there are student nurses as well as interns who are being supervised by the senior nurses and doctors. Most of the errors in hospital settings are due to medication errors. In this case, it was not any different. One student nurse was tasked to give the medication to this one year old baby. It was a potassium chloride that was to be infused in the intravenous fluid.

A little background: potassium is a major intracellular ion that is important in muscle contraction and this includes the heart. This cannot be given directly since this can cause too much contraction of the heart which will lead to death. When giving medications, it is standard that a senior must oversee that what the student nurse or a junior nurse is doing is correct. The student nurse in this case directly administered the potassium to the child.

Seconds later, the child died. The nurse in charge and the student nurse were both held in prison while their case is being heard.

Hospital negligence can be avoided by careful scrutiny when giving drugs. When in doubt, always ask. We are dealing with life here and there is no room for any mistake. One error can cost the life of an individual.

The LARGEST bingo halls

While the increasing popularity of online bingo threatens to damage the popularity of traditional bingo halls, an avid enthusiest can still get into a big live game. The world's largest bingo halls (by capacity) are all located in the lower 48 United States, and most also operated in conjunction with Native American run casinoes on the same site. The first, Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut, regarded as one of the world's largest casinos, started out as a bingo hall, but didn't forget its roots It can host up to 4,000 players. It is surely the bingo capitol of the world.

Tied for second place are the San Manuel Indian Bingo & Casino in Highland, California and the Isleta Casino & Resort in Albuquerque, New Mexico which both seat 2,500. The fourth largest, Cherokee Tribal Bingo Hall in Cherokee, North Carolina has 2,000 chairs. Coming in at fifth, Penobscot High Stakes Bingo gives some competition to Foxwoods Resort Casino in New England, hosting 1,800 players. Coming in at sixth, Ft. McDowell Casino and Radisson Hotel situated in Arizona, 1,700 can play. 1,400 can play at The Turning Stone Resort & Casino in Verona, N.Y., the 7th largest. 1353 players fills the Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee, WIsconsin, in 8th place. Gala Bingo Peterborough Westfield can hold 1,300 bingoers. And the smallest of the biggest, the Sycuan Casino & Resort in El Cajon, Calif hosts up to 1,246.

Debt Consolidation

If you are considering debt consolidation as a form of managing your debts, you first need to know what it involves. There are many forms of debt consolidation.

One of them is a process of securing a loan in order to pay several other loans off. Doing this gets you either a lower or fixed interest rate. Usually, this requires some form of collateral before securing the loan. In most cases, the collateral is a house that can be foreclosed to pay the loan back. A lower interest rate is obtained by using a collateral based loan because there is less risk to the lender. Because of the risk to the person, careful research must be done before considering this or he/she could lose their home.

Using a debt settlement company can be beneficial for debt consolidation. This type of company will attempt to negotiate with the creditors in order lower the debt. The payments are made monthly and placed in a escrow account until the full amount settled on has been reached. In most cases, however, this option cannot be utilized if the debt amount is under $10,000.

There is another method of debt consolidation that involves using credit counseling agencies. These agencies make it possible to consolidate several debts that are unsecured into one monthly payment. With this option, no loan is necessary. The credit counseling agency is able to get lower payments from many creditors. However, not all creditors will agree with negotiations. Many of them will in order to secure outstanding payments.

A shift in change within Real Estate

With the collapse in the U.S. real estate market many investors are looking to the overseas markets to try and make a profit. High oil prices have kept values up in energy producing locations one of which is Dubai. With Dubai oil maintaining it's huge appeal.. this theme sets to continue.

There are many things to consider in overseas investing let’s look at just a few. Dubai has recently introduce new rules regarding the use of off shore holing companies for land purchases. These have established free zones that allow for tax advantages to companies holding Dubai property from jurisdictions such as the British Virgin Islands. There are some set up costs and annual fees but the savings on large investments can be substantial. They are complicated and require a registered agent in Dubai but they are readily available.

Dubai was one of the first middle eastern nations to embrace foreign investment in their markets but there are still location restrictions on the areas foreigners can purchase. Despite these restrictions recent returns are averaging 8 to 10 % per year.

My Trip in Spain

The Spanish close their shops, shut the shutters and wait for the maddening heat to die down. There's something about that heat. You can't think properly. It stops your brain working. Alright for sitting in a bar or on the beach, but no good for getting work done. We zipped home at a fair pace, winding along the dangerously narrow canal road at breakneck speed (I found out later Dave used to teach the advanced driving course) and overtaking everything in sight. Dave didn't want to miss the match on TV (he didn't manage to get us Barcelona football tickets for this game). Arriving back at my flat, I showered and changed – very definitely shorts weather, although the Spanish guys all had long trousers on. Walking next door to see Dave he was already settled, cider can in hand, feet up, watching the game. He bid me help myself to a drink and sit down. There's not much I could really contribute to Dave's experience of watching football.

Nevertheless he seemed to enjoy my company. When one of the more blatantly bad decisions was made, I could join on with the howls of disgust, but most of the time I just sat and listened to Dave's commentary, which always highlighted the finer points of goalkeeper behaviour. So that was the start, five years ago. Now Dave' flat is empty. Nobody can watch football in English any more. All the estate agencies have shut down. Half of the English have left. Even the Romanians and Moroccans didn't think it worthwhile staying.

Perhaps it's time for me to go too.

"The Greatest Bonding can Occur on Family Holidays"

Generally, family occasions turn out to be dull occasions the whole family was starting to dread. Even joyous occasions like Christmas were starting to feel more like a day at the office. One year my Mom finally decided something needed to be done to keep our family from losing touch. She decided next Christmas was going to be a family ski holiday in the mountain's of Vermont. From the start you could sense the excitement. There were email chains going back and forth amongst the family and the excitement built and built. When we met up at the lodge, it was with genuine smiles and laughter. We all were having fun again and it brought back memories of vacations we used to take growing up and reformed the bonds that were slipping away. All in all, I believe a family holiday vacation is a must for every family.

Too hot in bed

Over the summer I always have a problem of being too hot whilst in bed, I have tried everything from sleeping with a cold water bottle, to buying the lowest tog quilt I could find, none of these things helped. I recently found out about these memory foam mattress, which had a list as long as my arm regarding the things they claimed to do, I bought one at the start of this summer and to my amazement I have had no problems of waking up too hot. I don’t fully understand how it works but I’m truly grateful for it. Not only does waking up during the night due to being too hot affect your sleep, but also has huge risks on your health, so personally I’m just relived that I can now have a good night’s sleep.

House Trouble

I have recently just lost my job, I have already missed two payments of my mortgage and don’t know what to do, and I have lived in my current house for over 15 years and would never consider moving out. My friend recently told me that there were schemes that allowed you to sell and rent back your home, this would be the ideal situation for me as I would also receive all the equity tied up in my house. I could move into my parents and just sell the house completely, but I’m knocking on now and I think I will find it quite hard to find a partner if I still lived with my parents. One idea I had was to sell up and move to America where I could probably afford a mansion, give the current economic climate over there.

New Motorbike

I recently got a promotion at work so I am thinking about buying a motorbike, I have a car already but the commute to work takes far too long, this is due to the traffic on a morning which I hate. I think if I were to purchase a motorbike I would be able to not only stay in bed a little longer, but also arrive at work in half the time. I had a car crash around 2 years ago, fortunately not a serious one; my concern is that my motorbike insurance will be very high. I have seen the bike I want and its gong to set me back 10 thousand pounds, I might even sell my car to help fund the bike. I have always had the dream of one day riding a motorcycle, with the wind flowing through my hair, and now it’s finally becoming reality although my hair has fallen out now so I’m going to miss out on that part, but I don’t mind.

Thank you mortgage bonds!

I finally bought my own house, at 28 years old I thought I would have moved out of my parents many years ago, but I could not get a mortgage however hard I tried. With the current situation of the economic climate I’m surprised that I got one, fortunately there are mortgage bonds available. The house is in a little bit of a state, but that doesn’t bother me, because my father is one of the best DIY people I know, so looking on the bright side it looks like it will be quite cheep to do up. Before getting the mortgage I was toying with the idea of buying half a house, by this I mean half a mortgage, I have heard of schemes that allow you to purchase half a mortgage if you don’t have a sufficient deposited for the whole house.

Three weeks of work

As you might have guessed from the title, I have three weeks of work; this is due to an injury at work that I had. I slipped in the toilets due to a leaky toilet and sprained my ankle. It’s not all bad though, I mean I did get three weeks of! I’m thinking of renovating my house over the period I have of, I have been meaning to do it for over a year now but never got round to do it. My job involves heavy lifting, so don’t think that just because I can paint my house that I can go back to work, I’m on doctor’s orders! If the toilets at work have not been repaired when I go back to work, then I’m going to make a formal complaint, either that or change jobs.

My first Win

I have been playing poker for a long time; I normally play on a Friday night with a bunch of friends. To make things interesting we normally put in around 15 pounds, this way people are more bothered about the game and are less likely to place stupid “all in” bets. Last month I moved house and have not being able to play for four weeks now, due to not knowing anybody nearby. Last night I played in an online casino, and I have to say I was a little sceptical about the legitimacy of this side of the internet, that was until I won 50 pounds in my first hour! I can now say that I have been converted to an online casino player, and although I still enjoy playing at home with a bunch of friends, the majority of my poker playing will now be done online!

Difficult Times

We all watch the news all listen to the news on the radio, so we know what the current situation is regarding the banks in the United Kingdom. There have been many banks that have seen major financial losses during the year of 2008, so getting a mortgage seems to be getting that little bit harder, due to investors keeping a tighter grip on their money. There does however seem to be a light at the end of the tunnel with mortgage bonds being the answer. Mortgage bond companies will cut out the middle man “the bank” and lend you the money directly, which in my view is a good thing considering the difficulty surrounding getting a mortgage nowadays. I am a young professional and see mortgage bonds as a promising way to recover the housing market.

Online Betting

What does the future of online betting hold? In the past 10 years we have seen this industry grow from nothing, to one of the biggest industries in the world. I for one would have never guessed that a large percentage of the internet now revolves around online betting. In my opinion this is a positive use for the internet, it gives many people the opportunity to interact with other people around the world. Online betting also enables people to carry on playing whatever game is available, without the need to travel to an actual location, this in turn is good for the environment due to less vehicles being used to travel from one destination to another. With the price of fuel today, any activity which involves less travel is good for our bank accounts.

Holiday in Spain

I visit Spain every year; this is mainly due to the sunshine Spain receives during the year, I find you can count on it more than in England. I visit the north more than the south, I think this is because the north of Spain feels more Spanish. I hate the type of people that go to Spain and spend every day in the hotel, they are people normally associated with the all inclusive packages. I do not see how these people can enjoy a holiday whereby they don’t see any of the country they visit! How do they expect to learn Spanish or any language for that matter? I suppose if those king of people like those holidays then at least on a brighter note it makes my holidays destinations more enjoyable!

Offline to online

The move from the offline community to the online community seems imminent, with many industries already suffering. The news is full of people losing their jobs due to their employers businesses not making enough money, which ends up in the businesses closing. I can’t help but think this has something to do with people using the web to buy the majority of their products nowadays, and not in actual sores. I understand that there is a credit crisis happening at this current time, but surely this has something to do with it. Even entertainment industries are suffering with many bingo halls closing due to the players playing online bingo, there is the argument that exists that suggest this is due to the smoking ban, but I think it’s only part of the reason.

Gambling Online

Should being able to login to an online casino be more difficult? In my personal opinion I think it should, too many underage people are allowed to sign up to these site due to the lack of supervision. An article by the BBC told how a girl of 16 was able to subscribe to 30 out 37 gambling site from a list she was given, this has to change in my opinion. Maybe an away to stop this would be to allow sites to link to one of our online profiles, and make sure the information we provide is the same as the information we input into the online casino. Although I’m sure the teenagers of today would be able to find away round the system. Maybe we should get rid of all online casinos! Only joking I love playing poker online.
